From My Heart To You

IN MEMORY OF MY GRANDPARENTS
~ Daniel and Agnes Gillan ~

From Ireland They Came

From Ireland they came many years ago, one from the North
and one from the South, exactly where I will never know.
They came to America with a hope and a dream, to raise a
family and always remain.

Grandma had hair as red as fire, and a spirit to match a
world of desire. She was gentle and loving to all whom
she knew, and her heart was of gold as there are so few.
Her temper was firey as the red of her hair, if you dared
cross her you lost in despair. If you were honest and
treated her fair, she would bend over backwards to welcome
you there. A pot of bean soup, baked beans, or such, would
be brewing on sunday when we came for lunch.

Grandpa was always a fun loving guy, with hair black as
ebony to match the night sky. His eyes how they twinkled
when on Grandma he picked, Saying "Aggie my love come here
quick". She would look and yell back "do it your self".
Can't you see I'm busy it's up on the shelf, get your own
glass for that whiskey you drink, and only a nip, mind you,
that's what I think. I won't have you sitting in that chair
all day, get out of the house and be on your way. But you
better be back when my cooking is done, or no supper you'll
get and the nights a long one. Grandpa was tall and over six
feet, with a deep booming voice whenever he'd speak. But his
hands were loving and gentle and kind, and when he looked, he
could read your mind. Or though, as his grandkids, we thought
was so true, he would say no tales now, and be off with you.
But with all of the picking which was always in fun, they loved
each other till there life was all done.

I miss them so much so this tribute I write, with the memories
I've stored in my head so tight. For these no one can ever
take, and someday I'll be with them again to say "I've missed
you so much but it was not my time", to join you in Heaven as
our hands entwine. I know you are watching from Heaven
above surrounded by Angels and God that we love. And
someday I'll be with you in that glorious place, if God
thinks I'm worthy and stay in his grace. We'll unite in
Heaven on the beautiful shore, and watch over loved ones on
earth I am sure. Until they all join us when their time has
come, to watch over the rest until the days done.

Until we are together again,
"I Love You" and miss you very much!

This is a poem my Grandma wrote
in my Mother's Diary years ago.

"Think of me when thou aren't lonely.
Keep for me one little spot.
In the depths of thine affection.
Plant the sweet Forget-Me-Not."

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sunshine warm your face,
And the rain fall softly upon your fields.
And until we meet again...
May God hold you in the palm of His Hand
