A Lot Less Want A Little More Need

In today's world, there seems to be too much
"I want" And too little of need.
----Wanting a brand new Cadillac..
When there are hungry mouths to feed.

God takes care of the birds on high,
Wouldn't you think He cares more for you and I?
If we took more thought of others,
our sisters and our brothers,
Then we would truly have a little less want
and a lot more need.

So don't you think we should bow and pray,
And thank our God for blessings every day?
And to ask ourselves to think about having
A lot less I want and more of need.

How the poem came about and Aleta's faith
in our Lord.

Don't know how this came about, except while ironing, was thinking of things I'd like to have and why so many things happen to put off getting, and guess God intervened in my thoughts...for even if we gave all we have and gave it freely with love, I have enough faith to know that we wouldn't starve and He would take care of our needs. But, alas, not all of us could or would do it ; after all, we're human and get our wants before our needs. Mom and Dad were cheerful givers, and always had enough if not all they needed. I've heard mom say that she never had a thought they would starve, that God would supply. And I was also thinking of her and some of her advice before this poem came into my mind.

Matt. 6:26. Behold the fowls of the air: for they toil not, neither do they reap, but gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not better than they?

28,29: And why take you thought for for rainment? Consider the lillies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say to you even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30: Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field which to day is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall He not much more clothe you oh you of little faith.
