Quiet waters flowing down the stream
through the woods oh so serene
Never riled or raging by
for in God's gardens they do reside
Trees in bloom with leaves of hues
red, gold, brown and greens too.
Flowers blossom so soft and sweet
the scent in the air is heaven sent
Swans swim by and the stream do share
for they know they are safe without a care
Butterflies floating down from heaven to earth
with a joyous sound of your rebirth
They tell you of Gods love for all
to say your prayers and believe in him
One day you will walk the gardens fair
and peace and love you will share
With all the others that went before
and will be waiting for you on heavens shore
to welcome you there with open arms
your soul will rest and you will be home.

Unexpected Help ~ May 14, 2009
A man...fell into the hands of robbers, who
stripped him, beat him, and went away,
leaving him half dead...a Samaritan while
traveling came near him; and when he saw him,
he was moved with pity.
Luke 10:30,33
In Zurich, Switzerland, where I live, when an assault
happens, people assume that an immigrant or an asylum
seeker is the criminal. But recently, when an elderly
woman was attacked and her purse stolen, a Hungarian
and another man from West Africa pursued the attacker
and gave the stolen bag back to its owner. The thief was
from Switzerland, while the other two were the "good
Samaritans" God had sent for the elderly woman.
The biblical story and this modern-day incident
parallel each other in many ways. Both work against
our prejudices - feelings that can create fear and
hostility in our hearts. Both also show that God can be
trusted to be with us, that God still provides good
Samaritans. The final message is that every day each of us
can "go and do likewise" (Luke 10:37) -
to be the one God sends to help someone in need.
Loving Christ, your call to love our neighbors
challenges us. Teach us to love in ways that transform
our lives and to trust you to provide when we are in need.
Amen
Dear Heavenly Father, I want to try my wings! I want to fly free!
Help me to see that only by committing my life to You can I really
be free - free from worry, free from wanting to sin, free from
yielding to temptation. Only with Your help, Lord, will I ever be
truly free - free to trust everything to You, free to serve, free to
become all that You want me to be, free to be joyful! ...
I want to try my wings, I want to fly free. ... Help me, Lord.
In Your holy name I pray. Amen
